The Verdon Bike Tour

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Cycling guide, cycling instructor, MTB guide, in the Gorges du Verdon Regional Natural Park in Moustiers Sainte Marie, we have tested for you a trace Vélo Loisir Provence, association to which we are members, Sylvie and I, Le Tour du Verdon by bike, a 258 km loop and 4600m of D+.

We made the journey in three days in autumn and before the beginning of winter. An inauguration of the Tour du Verdon by bike very recently marked by Vélo Loisir Provence. Our 1st step:

Departure from the farm of the little Ségriès in Moustiers Sainte Marie - Lac de Sainte-Croix - Aiguines - Corniche sublime rive gauche du Verdon - Trigance- Brenon- Chateauvieux - La Martre-Col de Clavel - Roque d'Esclanpon - Arrival and night in Grand hotel bain in Comps sur Artuby. Magnificent landscapes, breathtaking, a sublime corniche just SUBLIME, extraordinary weather at the end of October, deserted roads and breathtaking autumn colors with a beautiful ascent of the left bank of the largest canyon in Europe.

Distance: 94km Altitude difference +: 1900m

Step 2: Departure from Comps sur Artuby - Montferrat - Chateaudouble - Ampus - Verignon - Bauduen - Baudinard - Moissac Bellevue - Régusse - Montmeyan - Saint Julien le Montagnier - Saint Pierre - Arrival in Gréoux les bains

We loved the gorges of the Artuby, the gorges of Chateaudouble, the perched villages of the high var, the windmills, still the autumn colors, we skirted the lake between Bauduen and the dam of Sainte-Croix, a lunch with views of the lake and the crests of the Montdenier, the view over the low gorges of Baudinard.

Distance: 112km Altitude difference +: 1280m

3rd and last day of our Bike Trip:

Departure from Gréoux les Bains, ascent on the Lake of Esparon, Quinson, Montagnac, Sainte Croix du Verdon and finally Moustiers Sainte Marie with a return to the Ferme du petit Ségriès, 5 km above the village.

With the favors of autumn, exceptional weather for this end of season. A tour of the Verdon closed, allowed us to cross beautiful landscapes and small Provencal villages in their juice that make you want to stop.

Our advice:

Pay particular attention to the period you choose to make this route, in the low season from October to April, many shops and establishments can be closed, which can pose a problem in terms of supply.

In high season, July/ August, attention to high temperatures and traffic, high in this summer period. The route is very well marked and in both directions. The track is available here.
