Olivier is a bicycle reporter, he freelances for various cycling magazines... in this case "L'Echappée", for which he tests the "le Verdon à Vélo" loop.
Left from Gréoux to Comps, yesterday, I went to meet him on his second stage, Comps sur Artuby - Moustiers Sainte Marie.
Between the Cavaliers and the Vaumale Source, I come across a Cyclos with panniers going uphill, the light socks...
" Olivier ? Hello, Feel”… we had spoken, he knew I was coming to meet him.
We get to know each other better, the climb being conducive to this first contact.
Stops at the Vaumale and Col d'Illoire lookouts allow me, despite gray weather and strong gusts of wind, to introduce him to the 04 and Mediterranean massifs, from Chiran to Sainte Victoire via the Lure mountain, Ventoux and the Luberon, without forgetting the Plateau de Valensole, the vertiginous view of the Verdon and a piece of Lac de Sainte Croix, from the 1130m altitude at which we are perched.
Olivier admires the landscape, we continue the route to Aiguines, the descent towards the lake and the Galetas bridge and the exit from the Verdon on it.
Finally, head to La Ferme de Petit Ségries, labeled Accueil et Vélo and member of Vélo Loisir Provence, where Olivier will spend the night...
As we pass Moustiers Sainte Marie, I suggest to Olivier a trip to the heart of the village and a brewery break at a local artisan producer, the Brasserie Mielerie Raphaël Scipion, for a honey lemonade... enjoyed after a little over 100km and 2000m+ of 'Olivier.
We take advantage of this break to continue to discuss our passion for cycling, I introduce him to VLP, the association's involvement in the development of cycling tourism.
On the attractiveness of the loop, on its direction, him for doing it in the counterclockwise direction and me for having tested it in the other direction... we agree on the fact that his choice remains more attractive and more impressive for the visual in terms of the landscapes offered, and one does not dare imagine in good weather.
We finish the route, Sylvie welcomes Olivier and we share dinner in the evening, where a cycling discussion takes the lead, other cycling hosts also being at the meal.
Cycling contributes to great encounters.
Good luck Olivier, looking forward to seeing your article in the breakaway.
